Kumar Bangarappa, on Wednesday, filed his papers as Congress candidate from Soraba. The Samajwadi party has not yet released list of its candidates.
However, party state president S Bangarappa has made it clear on several occasions that his son Madhu Bangarappa will be contesting from Soraba on the SP ticket. During the assembly elections in 2004 both brothers were in the fray and Kumar Bangarappa won with a margin of 11,929 votes.
Speaking to Deccan Herald Kumar Bangarappa said fighting election against brother or any family member is really an unhappy development. But for me it is inevitable. “Last time Madhu contested as the BJP candidate.
Then there was no Samajwadi Party. Whereas this time both the BJP and the SP will be in the fray. Considering these developments I will win with not less than double the margin that I won in the last elections”, he said.
Reacting to recent reports on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party aligning for the polls he said “As for as I know there were talks in this regard. But it did not work out. However I am happy if my father joins the Congress”.
Kumar Bangarappa said he will campaign in Bangalore city for his friends-cum-Congress candidates N L Narendra Babu, Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byregowda, H M Revanna and then move to his constituency for campaigning.
