"With just 135, we had our backs to the wall, probably we tried too hard, lost early wickets and didn't manage to pull back. We should have pulled it back after we lost a couple of wickets. We played too many shots in the air," pointed out Dravid.
The right-hander said the target set by the hosts was inadequate to pose any serious challenge to the Royals. "It wasn't a competitive score. I think 160-plus would have been ideal score to defend," he said.
With just one win from three matches, Challengers take on the only undefeated side in the IPL, Chennai Super Kings, on Monday. But Dravid maintained his side had the potential to bounce back. "In T20 every team is strong. Reputations don't matter here. Of course Chennai is good side, but we have the quality to put it across any side," he remarked.
On the surprise inclusion of Anil Kumble, Dravid said that an injury to all-rounder B Akhil forced the Challengers to draft in the leg-spinner. "He (Kumble) also bowled well this morning." The Challengers also had paceman NC Aiyappa as a back up.
Royals' captain Shane Warne put down his team's success to well laid out plans. "We have got some momentum, winning our last three games. Obviously we have had our plans based on the pitch and conditions. We do have different plans for different games. Tonight we had an extra fast bowler and it worked. We use our brains, not computers, and it is good that our plans worked," said the Australian.
Man of the match, Shane Watson, praised his partner Graeme Smith for helping his team chase the target successfully.
"Graeme set it up for us and when I went in, I knew I just had to score at a run a ball and probably get one good over to reduce the required rate. Shane leads from the front and the pitch here had good bounce," Watson said.
