Addressing two separate public rallies organised by the BJP at Karkala and Puttur on Sunday, Mr Modi said that Mahatma Gandhiji wanted the Congress to wither. Hence if Congress does not wither by itself, the citizens of India must come together to make it wither away.
‘Delhi can’t help’
“There is no point looking at Delhi (Centre) hoping for help because Delhi will not save us from any crisis,” said Mr Modi and added that if Kannadigas want to be free from terror attacks, they have to depend on themselves and decide to fight it out all by themselves, the way Gujarat has kept terrorism away.
He said that Congress which speaks of Apex Court verdicts for every other issue, has failed to implement the SC order to hang Afzal, the prime accused in Parliament attack case.
“Congress in the quest of its vote bank politics is saving the terrorist,” he added.
Mr Modi aked the voters not to pay heed to the poll surveys and analysis which are going to appear in media through the so called political pundits, citing the example of Gujarat. Trust the Lotus, as the it stands for purity, even though it takes birth in muck, Mr Modi appealed.
‘PM is sleeping’
Citing the incident of PM Manmohan Singh’s statement that he had sleepless nights after seeing the family members of Dr Haneef crying over the television.
“Our PM could not sleep seeing a accused’s family cry but he has been have a sound sleep all these years while the poor people have been starving themselves and crying out of hunger due to the price escalation,” he added.
As per the request of the PM that price escalation should not be made a issue, he said that it would not be made a issue if PM brings back the price of commodities to the same level as it was when it took charge as the PM of the nation.
Political stability
He said that if Gujarat has been progressing at a galloping rate, it is because of the political stability that it enjoys.
“If Karnataka wants to achieve that progress then political stability has be achieved first as it is in Gujarat,” he added.
BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda, leaders V S Acharya, V Dhananjay Kumar, B Nagaraj Shetty and the party MLA candidates were present in the rallies.
