Addressing the reporters after distributing ‘Madilu Kit’, the kit comprising of various important things required by a puerperal woman at District Health and Family Welfare Office on Monday, District Health Officer Dr Jagannath said that over 232 Madilu kits have been distributed in the district so far while another 800 puerperal women are yet to be given with the kit.
“Government has sent 1,200 new Madilu kits, which will be dispersed to all Primary and Community Health Centres in the district,” he added.
He said that about 98 per cent of the deliveries in the district are taking place in the hospitals itself, which is a great achievement.
In the Kit, he sid that 18 important things needed for child care is being provided, including bathing oil for the new born, soap and blanket.
A special mosquito net too is being given in the kit because malaria is still rampant here.
He said that a committee has been formed under the presidentship of ZP CEO and District Health Office to ensure quality of the products in the kit.
He further informed that Janani Suraksha Yojane too has been success in the district.
Under the project pregnant woman from BPL family, SC/ST families receive Rs 800 if delivery takes place in the hospital, Rs 500 if delivery takes place at home, Rs 700 for caesarean in Government hospital and Rs 1500 is delivery happens in private hospital.
