Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said “Partymen can remain equi-distant from both Congress and BJP while supporting any candidate.”
“Bangarappa is a good friend of mine. He sympathised with me when I had lost an election. That’s why we are not fielding any candidate against him. But, we won’t forge an alliance with Samajawadi Party,” Gowda clarified. When quizzed further, he replied, “Bangarappa should win. Don’t ask more questions”.
He hinted that the move was aimed at former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
On social justice in distribution of tickets, Deve Gowda claimed that tickets were given to candidates from almost all castes except Kuruba community since nobody sought it. “We can’t go to the doorsteps of candidates. It is unfair to complain of injustice to the community without applying for a ticket.”

Shikaripur, DHNS: Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state chief S Bangarappa on Monday filed his nomination paper from Shikaripura constituency.
He will lock horns with former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa of BJP.
Former minister K S Eshwarappa filed nomination as BJP candidate from Shimoga constituency and Madhu Bangarappa as Samajawadi party candidate from Sorab constituency in the district on Monday.
According to the affidavit filed by S Bangarappa, he possess Rs 8,00,000 cash, Rs 90,870 bank deposits and 0.19 acre agriculture land in Kubatur village. Total worth of asset in his wife’s name stands at Rs 8,20,747 which includes Rs 3,00,000 cash, Rs 10,747 bank deposit, Rs 50,000 worth share in Akash Audio, jewellry worth Rs 2,90,000 and land in Malagaon village and Sirsi worth Rs 1,70,000.
