The police have not been able to trace the whereabouts of Bharat N S, regional head, INGVysya, who reportedly harassed his subordinate Shylaja, which led to her committing suicide.
“The police have not yet traced Bharat. We will arrest him in a day or two. More details will come out once he is arrested. We are trying to probe the issue from all angles,” South Division (DCP) Alok Kumar said.
“Shylaja’s father said she might have left behind a suicide note, but that seems to be a remote possibility. There must be some strong reasons for her to take the extreme step. We are trying to find out what happened 3-4 days before she committed suicide and what kind of friendship existed between Bharat and Shylaja,” he added.
The police also questioned some of the employees of ING Vysya on Sunday.
Foul play
Reacting to the incident, the State Women’s Commission Chairperson, Pramila Nesargi said, the bank higher-ups are trying to hush up the matter. “They seem to be planning to make four of their employees, who gave moral support to Shylaja, scapegoats.
We will see if Bharat has applied for an anticipatory bail, and if he has not, we will file an objection requesting denial of anticipatory bail. Men cannot take advantage of the conditions of divorced women”, she added.
