'Teachers' misbehaviour a matter of concern'
DH News Service, Tumkur:
Teachers misbehaving with students is a matter of great concern and pain and calls for immediate attention, said President of Anti-Dowry Forum Annapurna Venkatananjappa and General Secretary S C Rajkumar.

In the recent days, reports of teachers misbehaving with students were being reported often. This was a matter of great concern and pain and calls for immediate attention, said President of Anti-Dowry Forum Annapurna Venkatananjappa and General Secretary S C Rajkumar.

In a press release issued here on Monday, such cases of misbehaviour were painful incidents which cast an ugly shadow on the society.

If the teachers failed to stop and analyse the kind of impact they were giving on students and also on the society, they added.

The society places teachers in the highest esteem. They are regarded with honour and dignity.  If good teachers are transferred elsewhere, people feel extremely sorry for the loss. Such Guru Bhakti towards the teachers, was still evident in the rural areas.

Teachers had the responsibility of moulding the students into great personalities, who were the future citizens of the country.

The teachers should realise this responsibility and render their services with devotion and commitment, the members opined.

Unfortunate

They said, however, it was most unfortunate to note that some of the recent incidents had actually put the teachers down.

They misbehaved with their students and reports of injustice being meted out to their students are being reported very often. Infact, a couple of cases have been reported in Gubbi taluk also.

Unhealthy shadow

While, very few incidents came to light, and most of them remained under cover. Such incidents cast an unhealthy shadow on the blooming flowers, which was a matter of grave concern, they added.

The teachers associations are also not effective and strong. They were mostly involved in politics and petty groupisms and did not bother to fight for such issues.

Atleast, henceforth, the Education Department and the teachers associations should fight against such issues and uplift the cause of the students who are met with injustice in the hands of their teachers.

Also, along with them, other suitable measures were also required to stop such incidents in future, Ms Annapurna Venkatananjappa and S C Rajkumar informed. The two members are also the office-bearers of the Family Advisory Centre of the Forum.
