Seminar on limericks organised

The speciality of chutuku sahitya was to encourage the growth of Kannada, District Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Gangadhar Kodli said.


Limerciks does not mean just humour and jokes. To put everything succinctly and create a deep impression on the minds of the readers and the listeners which included all values and simple life  is what limerick is all about, said District Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Gangadhar Kodli.

He was speaking presiding over the chutuku sahitya parishat seminar organised by Sridevi Educational Institution here recently and said, the speciality of chutuku sahitya was to encourage the growth of Kannada.

Through limericks lot of important issues can be brought to the notice of the people; many issues can be made to touch the heart of the people, he said.

Sridevi Educational Institution chief Dr M R Hulinaykar who inaugurated the programme said, in every man there lies hidden a poet or a litterateur. One who tries to develop his interest accordingly will grow and become recognised and also bag awards. The limericks has grown beyond language in the country touching everyone’s lives, he added.

Litterateur Kavitha Krishna who was the chief guest felt that for responding to society’s needs, growth of literature was very important and inevitable. In this direction the present day writers and poets should concentrate all their energies. Limerick should grow according to the needs of the society and the young writers should develop this style, she added.

Dr Obalesh Gatti released the limericks composed by the B Ed students of Sridevi and said limericks does not mean just rhyming. It is an art and also a study of life and it should help in its improvement. Tumkur taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president G K Kulkarni also spoke. Lot of litterateurs participated.
