Meghasandhya, a Hindustani classical vocal music concert, will be organised under the aegis of Sangeet Bharati Foundation at Raveendra Kala Bhavan of the University College on September 2, informed Foundation Convener Narendra L Nayak.
Speaking at a press meet held on Thursday, he said, Pt Vinayak Torvi from Bangalore will present the concert while Gurumurthy Vaidya from Bangalore will accompany on the tabla and Narendra L Nayak on the harmonium.
Mr Torvi is a versatile artiste and has performed all over India and abroad. He first learnt Hindustani vocal music from his illustrious guru Pt Guru Rao Deshpande for over a decade before undergoing training under renowned vocalist Pt Bhimsen Joshi.
This is the first of the series of high profile artists including Pt Shivkumar Sharma and Pt Zakir Hussain that the Foundation intends to present to Hindustani classical music lovers in 2007-08, he said.
Information regarding the future programmes will be provided 15 minutes prior to the concert, she informed adding that entry to the programme is free for all music lovers, he added.
Sangeet Bharati Foundation President Ustad Rafique Khan, Treasurer A Sanjeev and Trustee Venkatesh Baliga were present at the press meet.
