"We have to encourage students to develop a scientific outlook towards life so that it can be based on a strong foundation of logical and discipline.” said B P Venkatesh, Deputy Director of State Education Research and Training department.
He was speaking after inaugurating the state level science seminar for high school students. The seminar was jointly organised by the Education Research and Training department, Visveswaraiah industrial and technological museum, Zilla Panchayat and Public education department.
“ To increase the quality of education in our country we need to base the growth on a scientific methods and this will also ensure that the students will also be interested in the subject.” he opined.
He added that a numerous experiments are being conducted in the field of academic sciences and because of its far reaching impact on the world science has a very important role to play and shrinks the earth to a global village cutting across borders and blurring boundaries.
“The development of our country depends on the leaps that the field of science makes, be it the security of India, geography, financial, educational, agricultural, information technology or bio technology streams” said the official and called on the scientist community to achieve more in their respective field.

He added that India had to buck up and achieve a lot more advancements if it wanted to be clubbed in the same category as the development nations.
“ It is therefore important that the next generation develops an aptitude for science and students need to nurtured right form high school to help them gain the necessary foundation to excel in the subject: he said.
Students came from across the state to participate in the science seminar. They put forth their opinions on various issues including drinking water, Global warming, energy resource, agriculture and food, natural disasters, education and technical field.
Lecturers, Karthik and Sushant from IISc and Keshavareddy from Bangalore Government Science school were the judges at the competition.
