Members of 12 organisations staged a dharna on the occasion of Anti-Corruption Day on Sunday. About 200 people took part.
National Federation of Indian Women, General Secretary (Karnataka wing) Sumitra K K said Karnataka stands fourth among the corrupt states in the country. “If we need good governance, we need to eradicate corruption.”
The members pledged to fight against corruption.
A memorandum in this connection has been already submitted to Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
The memorandum comprises a 10-point demand charter, including constitution of district- and taluk-level committees, to curb corrupt practices.
It seeks more powers for Lokayukta and appointment of a vigilance officer from all-India service cadre in each department.
