Development works in the State should not take a back seat in the wake of the dissolution of the State Assembly. It is imperative that the local bodies including Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and Gram Panchayats work more efficiently and strive towards implementing development works in their respective jurisdiction, said MLC V R Sudarshan.
Issue of transfer of power and fight for lucrative portfolios between the coalition partners - BJP and JD(S), led to the dissolution of the Assembly. Early elections have been imposed on the State by the parties who are interested in their own welfare rather than that of the public, he said.
Speaking after inaugurating Hariyali programme at Muduvatti Gram Panchayat on Friday, Mr Sudarshan said elections will be held in the state in the next six months.
Referring to the violence that erupted on Thursday at Battahosapura village of Vemagal taluk over opening a stone crusher, Mr Sudarshan said former legislator C B Krishnebhairegowda is a far-sighted man. In the interest of the farming sector, he is not giving permission to anyone, even to his close relatives, to open a stone crusher, maintained Mr Sudarshan.
It is alleged that the animosity between the Union Minister K H Muniyappa and Krishnebhairegowda has been the main cause of Thursday’s violence over stone crusher, in which four people were critically injured.
Various equipments were distributed to the poor on this occasion. ZP member Balaji Chennaiah presided over.
Taluk Panchayat President C R Yuvraj, Gram Panchayat President Venkatamma and taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Ramakrishna were present.
