Hunger-Strikers Arrested

Bangalore, Nov. 30.
The five-day hunger-strike of the two Hindustan Aircraft employees in the Cubbon Park took a dramatic turn today who they were arrested and removed to hospital in the early hours of this morning. The police also arrested over 70 HAL employees in the course of the day.
The police removed Jwalanaiah and Raman, who were fasting in tent, to the Victoria Hospital after Dr Hanumaiah Resident Medical Officer, testified that the condition was “grave”.

Shivaji Statue Unveiled

Pratapgarh, Nov. 30.
Prime Minister Nehru unveiled this afternoon, an equestrian statue of of Chhatrapati Shivaji at this 300-year-old fort which the great Maratha King himself built and used as his headquarters for his operations against the rulers of Bijapur.

Split in Gujarat Cong-I

New Delhi, Nov. 30.
The Gujarat Congress-I came in for a split today when five MPs and 10 MLAs quit the party to save their “dignity and self-respect.” Leading the walk-out was Mr Ratirubhai Adant, the tallest of the Congressmen in the State. He told newsmen here that they had taken a “painful decision.”
