Anything that generates warmth in winters is welcomed. People wear darker shades in winters simply because they absorb more heat and therefore keep the bodies warm. If you too have decided to go for darker hues this season, then a little change in your make up is also required. To match the shades on your body, the colours on your face too have to be little brighter than before. To look gorgeous and hot, select the shades and follow the techniques, suggested by the beauty experts and look stunning this winter!
Go for warmer shades
The key make up product that makes you look younger is a blusher. For a warm glow choose a shade darker and apply to the apple of your cheeks before foundation. If your foundation was light this summer, then choose a darker shade and gently pat it on your face.
Apply powder with care
"Most women don't use a concealer, but if you choose to, the best shade of it for your skin is not one that matches your neck or the inside of your wrist, but one that matches the skin tone of your lower eyelid," suggests Colin Hall, Spa Director, Ananda in the Himalayas. But as a word of caution, Hall says that powder sets make up and diminishes shine, but it should look translucent and colourless on your skin, so avoid ones that with too much colour. "When using loose powder, always brush on with a downward motion along the sides of your face- this will help to avoid powder building up under the fine hairs on your skin," says Hall.
For your eyes only
"If you have thin eyebrows, then apply brown or black mascara and brush it lightly," suggests make up artist Nazneen of Mumbai "and brush it lightly through the eyebrows to make them appear fuller and darker. When grooming eyebrows, brush them up and out in the direction they grow. This way you can see their natural shape before you start tweezing. When plucking stray hairs, alternate between brows and you will get a balanced look." An eyebrow gel is needed to tame the stray eyebrow hairs. But if you don't have any, use a little hair spray or hair gel spritzer on an eyebrow brush instead.
Luscious lips
Applying lipstick makes your whole face come alive, so be very careful while choosing the right shade. It can make or mar your beauty. The lower lip needs to be taken care of more than the upper one. To make your lower lip look fuller, try a highlighter effect.
Apply a dark shade (copper, crimson or a shocking pink-depending on the shade you are wearing) and then use your finger to dot a dab of shimmery eye shadow in gold, white or silver on to the middle of your lower lip. "For a quick lip fix that will stay put, try to rub a little powder blusher on to moisturized bare lips before adding a quick flick of clear lip gloss," says Nazneen. Also, "young lips have fewer, older lips have lots. Hide the lines around your lips, by applying dark lipstick vertically rather than horizontally."
With these new shades to try - a hotter and sexier look is all yours!
