The Bhartiya Janshakti Party leader Uma Bharti is engaged in a bargaining with the BJP leaders for her home coming.
Bharti, who has withdrawn her party’s candidate from the Gujarat polls to help out state Chief Minister Narendra Modi, will decide on her return only after her demand for an “appropriate rehabilitation” was accepted by the BJP, according to sources.
Apart from Modi who had sent messages to the party to humour the firebrand leader, BJP Vice-President Kalyan Singh has also recently sought to welcome leaders with “ mass base” in the party. Singh was stressing at Bharti’s early return to the party. Bharti’s re-entry, however, is not without enough resistance from the second generation leaders who feel that she is eating into their political space. A number of rebel ex-MLAs who were denied tickets, have decided to remain in the electoral battle.
