Moon mission on April 9

Chandrayana-1, India’s voyage to moon, will shoot off on April 9 and ISRO is fully ready for it.

Senior ISRO scientist and ISTRAC Director Dr S K Shivakumar on Thursday said in a national conference the unmanned spacecraft will be launched from Sriharikota through a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

He said the Chandrayana-1 will take at least a week to reach its destination. “It is a Rs 386 crore project, in which 11 experiments will be conducted on the moon. Of the 11 experiments, five will be Indian and six of six other nations - USA, Bulgaria, Britain, Sweden, Germany and Japan,” said Dr Shivakumar.

Conference on education

The three-day annual conference of the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) concluded on a note to keep abreast with technological advancements to make learning and teaching a pleasant experience.

As many as 700 principals and delegates from ISCE schools across the country attended the conference in which issues related to formal classroom education with innovative teaching methods were discussed. It was hosted by Little Flower Public School, Banashankari in Bangalore.

New prayer hall

Bangalore,dhns: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will inaugurate the new prayer hall at Drepung Loseling Monastic Institute at Mundgod, near Hubli on January 7 next year.

Tsona Rinpoche, MLA, Arunachal Pradesh and an alumnus of the Mundgod Institute said new prayer hall will be the largest Buddhist congregation hall in the world and will be an important centre for Buddhist studies.

President, Prime Minister of India, Karnataka Governor,  Congress President and former president Dr Abdul Kalam will be invited to grace the function, he said.
