The meeting headed by ZP President A C Nagaratna, had many of the members demanding to take stringent action against the officials involved in formulating the scheme as many irregularities have taken place.
The water crisis in the city has gone rampant and in order to solve this problem, borewells have to be dug out, said member Balaji Chennaiah. Other members also supported this saying that the proposal put forth by the members have to be taken into consideration and not the directions of the government.
Member Vijayalakshmi from Bairakooru had a different kind of a problem to say. She alleged that the officials dig borewells after seeking advice from the astrologers and not at places where there is water crisis. She also said that the officials do not consider their words, instead take into account former MLA’s words, for which exchange of words occurred between JD(S) and Congress.
Though President Nagaratna and CEO K S Suryanarayana Rao tried to explain and control the situation, no member was in a position to listen to it. The members of Malur had a different tale to tell. Members Krishna Singh, Narayanaswamy and Rame Gowda said that the instructions given by the members have been neglected and borewells have been dug out as per the instructions of the MLA.
Congress member Narayanaswamy alleged that the CEO has not taken any action against the officials, as urged in the previous meet, to which JD (S) member Srinivas said that several crores of rupees have been misused while digging the borewells and laying PVC pipes, which has further increased the problem of drinking water, in spite of the government funds, he added.
As per the directions of the government, assistant executive engineer has formulated and the proposal by the members has been very much taken into account except for slight alteration made by CEO Suryanarayana Rao, as he has the right to do it up to 10 per cent, said Deputy Secretary Muniraju.
An action plan of Rs 929 lakh has also been formulated and no irregularities have e taken place, justified Muniraju, to which the members seemed satisfied, except for Malur members.
However, members Srinivas and Karalli suggested the CEO to hold a separate meeting to discuss the problems of Malur.
Meanwhile, Muniraju requested the members to give a proposal to formulate a new action plan for the present year, as Rs one crore has been released by the government for drinking water scheme, he added.
