This question was raised by Jayanth M Tinaikar of Khanapur, who had given credible information about the fake stamp paper racket to the investigating agencies - StampIT and the Central Bureau of Investigation.
“The police so far has given me a meager Rs 2,000 as cash award for information given about the racket. This, despite the observation by Mr R Sri Kumar, Director General of Police who headed the StampIT, that information given by me was useful for investigation of the case and to save crores of rupees for the state exchequer,” he said in his petition to the Governor.
Tinaikar says all he is asking from the Government is 8.29 acres of land at his home town, Khanapur.
He pointed out that some legal problems are being cited, even though the process of awarding land to him was on some time ago.
Tinaikar has been provided with armed security by the Government, following his disclosure about the racket.
