“Suitable Measures” For Food Production
New Delhi, Dec. 3.
The Lok Sabha today called upon Government to take “suitable measures” to increase food production in the country.
It passed an amendment to that effect moved by a former Congress Parliamentary Party Secretary, Dr Kam Subhag Singh, after a day-long debate on the food situation in the country. Food Minister, Jain said that he was willing to accept the amendment which was tacked on to Government’s formal motion for consideration of the food situation.
Soviet Missiles For Chinese Forces
Moscow, Dec. 3.
The Soviet Union has promised to equip the armed forces of the Chinese People’s Republic with modern weapons, including missiles, informed Moscow sources said today.
The sources said the promise was made by Soviet leaders to the Chinese Defence Minister, Ma hal Peng.

60 Cong MLAs Will Be Denied Tickets

Bangalore, Dec. 3.
About 60 sitting MLAs of the Congress (I) will not be given tickets for the forthcomingelections, KPCC(I) Acting President K Mallanna said here today. At a press conference, he said “almost all” Ministers would be allowed to contest. The number of sitting MLAs to be denied tickets is roughly one-third of the strength of the Congress (I) in the Assembly.
