Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, he said, he was ready to face any probe, including by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), about any transaction he made while being the minister. He alleged that Yeddyurappa had been engaged in “false propaganda” against him and his family members and had stooped to the level of burning effigies of his father-former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his brother-former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. “In fact, he should be thankful to Kumaraswamy for supporting him as the Deputy Chief Minister,” he said, adding that it was Yeddyurappa who had betrayed Kumaraswamy.
He claimed that he had never insisted on getting the PWD and Energy portfolios as alleged by the BJP and said he never wanted to be a minister. However, as the PWD Minister he had cleared various proposals, including buildings for nine engineering colleges. While there were stumbling blocks for all engineering colleges, the one promoted by Yeddyurappa in Shimoga was cleared by the government within two days, he added.
Deve Gowda on his part said the findings of A T Ramaswamy final report, which was made public recently, is an apt reply to the BJP with respect to corruption charges. “The report clearly says who has done what. There is no need to reply much about the corruption charges levelled by Yeddyurappa,” he stated.
Allegation
Kumaraswamy alleged that it was the BJP which was opposed to giving more powers to Karnataka Lokayukta.
“It was BJP leaders who are corrupt and not the JD(S)’. I will take up the corruption issue before the people in coming days and they will only give an appropriate answer,” he added.
