POOR RESPONSE ON FIRST DAY
Army recruitment rally in Mangalore
DH News Service, Mangalore:
The Indian Army has organised a recruitment rally at Mangala stadium under the aegis of Army Recruiting Office in Mangalore, Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Bangalore, from December 4 to 7.

Though it was started on Tuesday, the response for the recruitment of clerks and soldier nursing assistant was very poor, said Recruiting Director Col R Suresh.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, he said “people have an apprehension over joining the Army. The rally has been professionally organised with absolute transparency.”

He said the rally is for the candidates from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Hassan, Davangere, Chikmagalur and Chitradurga districts.

Col Suresh informed that categories for which the recruitment is being carried out include soldier clerk, soldier technical, soldier nursing assistant, soldier general duty, soldier general duty (non metric) and soldier tradesmen.
He said the recruitment rally includes physical test which includes 1.6 km run, pull ups, etc, physical measurement, medical test.

Once the candidates pass in medical test, hall tickets will be issued for the entrance examination which will be held on the last Sunday of January in Mangalore.

The candidates must be in the age group of 17 and 23 and must have passed SSLC, PUC or equivalent courses.
They should get education qualification certificates and 10 passport size colour photographs and caste certificate.
