English play
Black Coffee Productions is bringing out its new play, ‘The Undertaker’ by Loy Saldanha. The play is directed by Preetam Koilpillai and stars Abhishek Majumdar.
Written at a time of deep inner turmoil, The Undertaker, a one-actor play, is a raw and explicit account, in the first person, of a troubled time - personal, social and religious.
The Undertaker brings audiences face to face with issues of loneliness, death and social bigotry, against a backdrop of religious symbolism that probes the relationship between man and God.
Through a non-linear time line we see the undertaker oscillate between the present and various shades of the past culminating in a final confrontation with a strange white authoritative figure, arguably representative of a social class or God Himself, or perhaps both.
