Music award
Six schools from the city participated in `The Head Start Music Fest’ organised by Head Start Montessori House of Children. The fest provided opportunities to children between the age group of six to nine to display their musical talent.
The event was compered by VJ, model and actress Ashita Arun. The performances of the children belonging to Sishu Griha, Prakriya, St. Peter’s, Indus International, Inventure Academy and Head Start were judged by Arnab Chaudhuri of UTV, Murari Sharan Gupta- tabla player, and Saumitra Mukherjee, head of the Guitar Department at the Bangalore School of Music.
Sahana of Indus International was declared the winner for the Indian Solo performance. St. Peter’s emerged as winners for the western group/band category while Head Start won the prize for the choose your own song category. The Moneesha Chaudhuri Music Appreciation Award was also awarded to Head Start who obtained the maximum points.
CII-NID design summit
The CII-NID Design Summit will be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre on December 12 and 13. Italy is the partner country of the 2007 summit.
Counsellor Tassoni Estense, Head Commercial and Economic Office, Embassy of Italy, said, ``the exhibition `100 Objects of Italian Design’ from the permanent collection of La Triennale di Milano, we want to give a glimpse of 50 years of Italian excellence in this field, with objects created with cutting -edge design and conception that have defied time and fashion trends by becoming icons of modernity and taste. We believe this will be a source of inspiration to designers attending the summit.’’
Italy will be represented in the different sessions of the CII Summit, with speakers from its most prestigious institutions. An Indo-Italian workshop titled `Design, Lifestyle and the city: managing modernity and heritage’ will also be conducted. The workshop will be led by Indian architect Professor Raj Rewal, Italian restoration expert Professor Giorgio Croci, Vice President of La Triennale di Milano, Prof. Arturo Dell’Acqua and representatives from NID, Domus Academy and Pininfarina Design Studio. The workshop is aimed at comparing experiences in the field of architecture and management of urban spaces.
Educational meet
The Anthroposophic Medical Society will hold a free orientation to Anthroposophy and Waldorf Education on December 8 and 9 December at the Goethe Institute on CMH Road in Indiranagar from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Various questions like what is unique about Waldorf education, how is it different from other alternatives and how it can be integrated into the current systems will be addressed at the orientation. The orientation will impart valuable information to parents, teachers as well as educators of children with special needs, therapists, doctors, nurses and even students.
