The navigator currently available in two hardware models is priced at Rs 21,000 in Delhi and Rs 22,000 in other states. This is a one-time cost for the product, pre-loaded with complete maps, car and wall charger, windshield and dashboard mount and manuals.
The GPS signal is free and does not have a monthly charge. Both devices have a 3.5 inch colour touch-screen and additional multimedia features to play movies, music, photos, games etc. The navigator uses the satellite to determine your current location. Entering the required destination across India it guides you with visual directions and with voice prompts.
Re-route directions
“If you take a detour or miss a turn, it will re-route its directions and guide you to your destination,” said Mapmyindia Head Rohan Verma briefing reporters. “We will launch these maps on mobile phones soon,” he added.
This device is available at retail outlets in major cities and at Futurebazaar and Mapmyindia website. The company has invested $5 million for collecting comprehensive details to build maps for India.
It plans to invest an additional $5 million in sales and distribution. The maps connects 55,000 town and villages, 150 cities containing important landmarks and 18 major cities with set of streets, localities, sub-localities and landmarks. The company also plans to include 1000 cities, 500,000 towns and villages and 1 million points of interest.
