DSS seeks fresh inquiries into cases
DH News Service, Kolar/Chintamani/ Sidlaghatta/Srinivaspura/Bangarpet :

DSS workers and dalits protested against the Nagalapalli court verdict in Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts.
Demanding a fresh inquiry in to the atrocities committed on dalits at Kambalapalli and Nagalapalli, DSS workers staged protest at tahasildar office in Kolar on Thursday.

The court verdict given in the Kambalapalli dalit massacre has hardly been forgotten when court has given a similar verdict on the Nagalapalli case. The accused are now roaming scot free, alleged DSS workers.
Government Public prosecutor has argued the case with irresponsibility and their by committed grave mistake, alleged protesters who also accused police of  dereliction of duty.

Many eyewitnesses where threatened by the accused during the trials, said protesters who alleged that neither police nor Social Welfare Department made any efforts to build confidence among the eyewitnesses. Special protection which was to be given to the eyewitnesses by the  government was also not given, they added.
Case failed in the court due to all this  loopholes. said protesters who alleged government  to be responsible for all this.

Government and prosecution has failed to provide justice to the week and destitute dalits, said protesters who asked the government to set rate the injustice done to dalits.

  Chintamai
In Chintamani DSS workers lock up the taluk office and protested in front of it.

The protesters accused the government of being a puppet in the hands of powerful and said that Nagalapalli verdict has also met the same fate of Kambalapalli.

Though there is special court for the trial of dalit cases in Kolar government did not take serious step in  appointing the senior lawyers or judge, alleged protesters.

In the protest held on November 16 DSS had urged the government to shift the trials of the case to neighbouring states but government didn’t pay any attention to this, said DSS coordinator N Venkatesh. The protesters later gave a memorandum to tahasildar.

Srinivaspura
In Srinivaspura DSS workers protested at the taluk office. The protest was lead by DSS state coordinator K T Kamat. Around 11 am protesters locked up the tahasildar office along with the staff and raised slogans against the dalit atrocities.

Though systematic attacks have been carried on dalits and other minorities some of the  political parties like invisible hand ensure these incidents are not reported ,  said DSS coordinator Rojarpalli Venkataramanappa who spoke to the protesters.

The accused should be punished and awareness should be created about these incidents in order avoid future incidents, he added.Later the protesters handed over a memorandum to the tahasildar.

Shidlaghatta
In Sidlaghatta DSS workers  protested at the taluk office demanding a fresh inquiry in to the atrocities committed on dalits at Kambalapalli and Nagalapalli and fulfilment of  various demands.  Dalits should be given separate graveyards in all villages and the encroachments in the graveyard should cleared, demanded protesters who sought early rectification of the irregularities committed during the distribution of the ration cards in the taluk.
The protesters also demanded basic amenities at the government hospital and urged the government to appoint doctors who are specialist in bone, child care and women doctors.

Bangarpet
Members of the Dalita Sangharsha Samithi staged a dharna in front of the tahsildar’s office in Bangarpete. The two cases of Kambalapalli and Nagalapalli should not be just viewed from the judicial point of view of what is justice and injustice. It was a matter of providing justice to the entire dalit community. It was a matter of seeking human justice.

Hence, the Government should conduct fresh inquiries into both the cases and provide justice to the community, said DSS taluk Co-ordinator Hoovarasanahalli Rajappa who warned Government  of a severe agitation in the State, if it failed deliver the justice.
