‘Varna Sakshi,’ a painting exhibition of Udupi-based artist Vasanth Rao will be held under the aegis of Dhrithi Foundation at Prasad Art Gallery in the City from December 7 to December 9.
Informing this to media persons here on Wednesday, Dhrithi Foundation Secretary Dr Srinivas Kakkillaya said Mr Rao has voluntarily come forward to hold his exhibition, and the fund accumulated out of the event will be used for the education of children through Dhrithi and Vidyaposhak institutions. The exhibition will begin at 4 pm on December 7. Psychiatrist Dr Ravish Thunga and veteran artist Ganesh Somayaji will be the chief guests.
In collaboration with Vidyaposhak institution of Dharwad, Dhrithi Foundation has been helping the economically backward students since 2006.
A sum of Rs 1,53,000 cash and books worth Rs 8,000 have been given to a total of 85 students in 2006.
In 2007, Rs 3,68,500 has been provided to 204 students.
Dr Kakkilaya said the assistance has been given with the help of Prerana of Infosys group and donors in Mangalore as well as abroad. The Foundation will organise a day-long personality development camp at Karnataka Bank Employees Organisation auditorium at Bejai Kapikad on December 30. Adduru Krishna Rao, Dr Vaijayanthi Bonanthaya, Vasanth Rao among others will be the resource persons.
Students expecting financial assistance for the year 2008-09 may send their applications to Dhrithi Foundation within January 15, he said. Artist Vasanth Rao and Dhrithi Secretary Harish Pejawar were present in the press meet.
