Tremors from Tremolos at DH Music Fest
MP
The accordion trio, who call themselves Tremolos, are all set to perform on December 15, the final day of the Deccan Herald Music Festival.

Music loving Bangalorean will have a chance to listen to the mesmerising music of an instrument, rarely played on the stage - the German folk instrument, accordion - at the Deccan Herald Music Festival. The accordion trio, who call themselves Tremolos, are all set to perform on December 15, the final day of the Festival.

The Tremolos comprising Sanjeev Mohapatra, P Ravindra, and M B Prakash, largely play Europeon folk music and an occasional Hindi song.

The accordion was popularised in India by Shankar Jaikishen, Raj Kapoor's favourite music composer. In many films, Raj Kapoor is seen singing his songs accompanying himself on the accordion. Their repertoire comprises waltzes, polkas, tarantellas, landlers, mazurkas, tangos, and paso dobles, the theme from The Godfather and  a non-European piece called Polka Chinese.

Choir

The Camerata, under  the direction of  Neecia Majolly, is one of Bangalore's most well – known and best loved choirs that was formed in 1999 is also scheduled to perform on the third day (Dec 14) of the Deccan Herald Music Festival.

For the Camerata, Western Classical Music has never been always about Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. All great composers in their own right, no doubt, but the repertoire of this genre extends much farther, and this is exactly what the Camerata chooses to explore.

With an affinity towards contemporary classical music, the choir has presented such composers as Benjamin Britten, John Tavener, Matyas Seiber and Bob Chilcott to name a few.  Its debut performance, G F Handel's "Messaiah" (perhaps the best loved choral composition in the world) was a great success the following year, presented in full with orchestra at the J N Tata Auditorium, Bangalore. Since then, the choir has gone from strength to strength with their unusual repertoire recently including a moving concert of Maurice Durufle's Requeim in September this year.

Others who will perform at the Deccan Herald Musical Festival from December 12 to 15 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall include The Pilgrims, Dinesh K, Arul (Grubby Halo), Freeville, Vatsala Isaac, Roopika Muthanna, Thermal and a Quarter, Preetam Koilpillai, Jasiel Peter, Acoustic Chutney, Benny Prasad, Sheba Kurian, Golf View Campus, Aishwarya Kasinathan, Solvitur Canendo, Renju George, Ruhi Ahamed, Byden Lewis.  For tickets prices at Rs 150, Rs 100 and Rs 49 call 98861-39323/ 25880192. Tickets are available at Deccan Herald, 75, M G Road.
