John, Bips hit the Goal

After a spate of splitting and patching up, John Abraham and Bipasha, one of Bollywood’s hottest pair, are getting engaged. The good looking couple are planning to get engaged soon. However, the ceremony will be a strictly private affair and will be held at Bipasha’s residence, say sources.

After a stormy year in which rumours flew thick and fast of their split and patch up apparently because of their joint brand endorsements, of their alleged hook ups with Saif Ali Khan, Cristiano Ronaldo and Vidya Balan, John and Bipasha, who have been dating for around five years now are keen to move forward and settle down.

Saroj Khan’s Southern Conquest

She made Madhuri dance ‘Ek do teen...’ and our hearts went ‘dhak dhak’. Sridevi insisted that she choreograph her dances. She got Aishwarya practise 19 hours a day for ‘Nimbooda Nimbooda...’ Saroj Khan, the Queen of Dance has now set her eyes on the South.

The ace choreographer, who taught Hrithik Roshan and King Khan a step or two will now be choreographing a song in ‘Yuva’, a Kannada film. The song will be picturised on newcomer Madhoo.

The film is directed by K Nagendra Babu who had earlier given ‘O Gulabiye’ and ‘Pallakki’.

Nagendra Babu is also roping in the services of Bollywood stunt master ‘Cheetah’ Yagnesh Shetty to choreograph an intricate action scene along with Thriller Manju.

Vaibhavi’s Saawariya?

While ‘Saawariya’ has not exactly scorched the box office, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s personal life is all roses these days. The 44-year-old director is dating 31-year-old Vaibhavi Merchant who choreographed Madhuri Dixit’s comeback vehicle, ‘Aaja Nachle’. Though the couple are going great lengths to keep the affair a secret that started during the making of ‘Black’, the affection for each other was obvious during the premiere of ‘Saawariya’ where Vaibhavi happily posed for the shutterbugs with Bhansali’s family.

Vinod Khanna’s TV debut

He made the girls swoon and the guys envious. His good looks and charming personality should have landed him with plum hero roles. But interestingly, he kick-started his career as a villain with ‘Mann Ka Meet’. Actor-turned-politician, Vinod Khanna, was truly class apart. Vinod often landed up playing second fiddle to Amitabh Bachchan in several films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikander’.

But it was Gulzar’s ‘Mere Apne’ with Meena Kumari that was the turning point for this Osho ashram follower. From playing negative characters, he was finally given the role of a hero in ‘Mere Apne’.

And life has come a full circle for him today. Vinod Khanna has stepped into the small screen in a serial bearing the same name, ‘Mere Apne’ on 9X. The title is apparently only a coincidence. Starring opposite is producer of the serial, Smriti Irani aka Tulsi from ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. ‘Mere Apne’ is a story of a family headed by Kashinath Pandey (Vinod Khanna), wife Sharda Pandey (Smriti) and their children - Aditya, Vrinda and Shanker.

A family that holds together despite all the odds, the soap is set in Benaras. ‘Mere Apne’ airs every Monday to Thursday at 10 pm. Wonder if Vinod can this time set the small screen ablaze with his power performance and persona!
