Sarja’s sojourn

Remember Arjun Sarja? The other successful Kannada export to Tollywood? After a successful outing in Jayashree Devi’s ‘Sri Manjunatha’, the affable hunk now returns to do a cameo. A cameo for a hero? Why not, when it happens to be ‘Vaayuputra’, a home production set to launch nephew Chiranjeevi Sarja? Apart from penning the story, Sarja Sr is also producing the film which will have Rebel Star Ambarish playing a psychiatrist for the first time. But as director Kishor Sarja hastens to add, this psychiatrist won’t be anyone like Vishnu’s pshrink in ‘Apthamitra’!!

Saacha, it’s pucca

The word saacha means honest, upright and is used to describe an upright, sincere person.

After several titles courted unnecessary controversy, producers Madesh and Shivaramu played it safe and have named their venture ‘Saacha’. A pucca love cum action film, ‘Saacha’ has newcomer Vicky as hero while Divya Sridhar and Likhitha play the female leads.

Saacha also marks the return of Ali Khan to Kannada industry, as a good police officer for a change.

Value of a ‘Rupi’

The importance of money or rupee is self evident in contemporary society.

Even Uppi Upendra testifies to its value, aptly naming his resort on city outskirts as ‘Ruppi’.

However, a nagging question begs to be answered -- is money everything in life? Newcomer director Naveen will be trying to answer this in his film called what else, ‘Rupi’.

The film’s cast is also brand new with four youngsters Venkatesh, Pawan, Madhu and Gowtham making their debut as heroes. The director says the story is inspired from real life incidents. Supreeta is so far the lone female lead.

Hairy tale

Did you know Shivanna hates to have his hair touched even by his stylist? But the finicky star had to bend that rule to accommodate none other than namma Uppi! However, this was way back when the hit film ‘Om’ was being shot.

The film required Shivanna sport a tousled look and Uppi would rush in between canning the scenes to dishevel Shivanna’s hair. Poor Shivanna. The professional that he is, he would swallow his irritation and allow Uppi have his way. By the way, both the stars are fast friends. Is that why Uppi also sported that hairo at the press meet?
