BJP leaders and members were enraged at the inaugural programme of the Mangalore-Bangalore train service held at Mangalore railway station on Saturday as they felt belittled and left aside at the programme.
Prolonged pandemonium broke out at the venue of the programme over the issue of police denying entry to MLC Ganesh Karnik. It is said that Capt Karnik was stopped by the security personnel while he headed towards the special seats in the front. The issue got intense and the BJP members decided to walk out of the programme. Later, IGP (Western range) A M Prasad convinced BJP members and finally succeeded in convincing Capt Karnik to take his seat on the dais.
Udupi MP Manorama Madhwaraj, who was present at the programme, refused to come over to the dais as her name was not included in the invitation.
She stuck to her decision in spite of leaders like B Janardhan Poojary and others requesting her to be seated on the dais.
While several leaders across the political spectrum were found seated in the audience, Ms Blossom Fernandes was found smugly seated on the dias next to her husband Oscar Fernandes, as usual.
