Activists of various progressive organisations and backward class federation held a protest rally on Friday in Kolar, condemning the atrocity against State backward class commission president Dr C S Dwarakanath and urging for action against the accused. They later submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner.
DSS, Samata Sainik Dal, District backward class federation, SFI, Janawadi Women’s organisation and Student Janata Dal activists took part in the protest. Venkataswamy of Samata Sainik Dal accused that Sangha Parivar is snubbing and exploiting backward classes. He urged for speedy action against those who are guilty of act of atrocity against Dwarakanat.
Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (Ambedkar School) District Co-ordinator Vijayakumar blamed that communal forces are bent upon suppressing the backward classes. While Dwarakanath was staying in a guest house in Madikeri, a team of more than 150 people led by former legislator Bopaiah intruded and mentally tortured him.
Leaders of various organisations including Harohalli Ravi, Anjanappa, Varadenahalli Venkatesh, Anand, B Sureshgowda, Ambarish, Nanjundappa, Bellambari Nagaraj, N Prabhavati and journalists Abbanni Shankar and J Satyaraj participated in the protest.
