Talk about painters, who have women as their protagonists, and Jagdish Kadur is among the names that you'll hear in Bangalore’s art circuit.
Kadur recently exhibited 30 oil and acrylic paintings at the Avishkar School of Dance and Music. The exhibition featured his signature style paintings, that showcase women with a broad forehead, big eyes, and small lips packed in an oval face. “The eyes of these women are very expressive. I usually paint women and try to bring out their desires, ambitions and the restrictions that are imposed on them through their eyes,” says Kadur.
"There are many talented women, but there are instances where they have had to sacrifice their dreams due to various circumstances. My paintings not only bring out this struggle, but also encourage them to fulfil their goals,’’ he adds.
This apart Kadur had on display some of his free style paintings and line drawings, that also had female as its theme. Adding variety to the exhibition were his landscapes and abstract paintings. The paintings were priced anywhere between Rs 2,000 and Rs 86,000. Kadur has showcased his contemporary paintings in prestigious group and solo exhibitions across the globe. And if it is a combination of style and quality that you are looking for, then Kadur’s paintings make for a good option.
Kadur next plans to hold an exhibition in May at ‘Vin’scent Art World, housed in Jayanagar III Block. The collection that was exhibited at Avishkar is currently on display at the Art World.
