A look inside China
Inside China, a themed series of news reports, documentary and factual programmes exploring one of the world’s most dynamic countries, will run throughout March on BBC World. The season will examine the impact of China's headlong rush for economic growth and mark the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The key highlights include Chinese School, a five-part series explores the unique issues and priorities facing a school in China.
The programme looks at the excitement of the upcoming Olympics; how the huge disparity in wealth among both pupils and tutors greatly affects their everyday lives; and how the One Child Policy has influenced parental expectations, classmate relationships and social values. The programme will begin telecast on March 8. There is also the White Horse Village, Looking For China Girl, and China’s Terracotta Army. In China’s Terracota Army, presenter Dan Snow follows the making of the British Museum’s biggest exhibition in a generation and tells the story of its subject, the First Emperor of China – Qin Shihuangdi. One of the most important but least well-known men in history, Qin Shihuangdi founded the world’s oldest political entity and created the spectacular Terracotta Army to guard his vast tomb.
