Western-style security for Mayawati
DH News Service,New Delhi:

Though the missive of UP Cabinet Secretary to the Centre to provide Special Protection Group security to Chief Minister Mayawati has received “a muted response” from the Home Ministry, the state administration is studying western security models to elevate  technological and manual “protection” for the BSP chief.
Officials are in touch with at least a dozen western security agencies, including those in Britain, France, Israel and Germany. One of the key component of the security modernisation would be electronic surveillance  around the Chief Minister’s residence, office and the routes followed by her motorcade. Security experts abroad are also being engaged to orient  the security officials for “real time response” to terror threats.
Sources told Deccan Herald that the state cabinet secretary S S Singh is  monitoring the “expensive” security overhauling which may cost the exchequer around Rs 20 to 25 crore annually.
