Incident has today grown to be one of the biggest cultural fiestas in India, with 60 events scheduled over five days and 8,000participants from all over the country.
This year the event will feature a wide range of programmes spanning the entire spectrum of culture and intellect, ranging from music, performing arts, and fashion to quizzing, debating and dramatics.
The institute’s private beach will host a range of informal events and games including slam Dunk, the popular basketball tournament. The event will also feature workshops on kite making, DJing, sand modelling, digital photography, dance and bird watching.
Popular Bangalore bands ‘Ek’ and ‘Bhoomi’ will headline the eastern and western musicals respectively. Connoisseurs of art will find events such as “Haute Couture,” the fashion show; “Promenade,” the dancing events; “Striptease,” cartooning; and “Kalakriti,” an art exhibition.
The Pronite, featuring India’s best artistes, makes an appearance once again and will be complimented by a magic show by magicians Prof Shankar and Junior Shankar. A film fest and a gaming fest will also be held.
NITK is known for its active literary club and Incident 2008 will showcase a potpourri of literary events including the flagship event Quizfest, the NITK debate and various dramatics events. Quizfest features five quizzes, crossword, scrabble and dumb charades among others. There are various literary events in Kannada and Hindi too.
