NECD will sell its basic LCD desktop displays such as its 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch models for the mass and B2B markets through TPV’s sales and services network in India. Both companies plan to sell around five lakh displays in the next three years.
Sales turnover
“The Indian market is growing fast and through this collaboration we expect to have turnover to the tune of US$50 million by 2009,” NECDS President Yoshiaki Tsuda said. He said that in the first year the sales was expected to touch US$7 million and US$30 million next year. NEC Corporation aims to achieve a sales turnover of US$2 billion by 2009 from the present US$1.55 billion, he added. The company said that it has no plans to set up manufacturing facility in India “right now”, but would certainly consider it if the demand will grow, he said.
TPV India Director Mukesh Gupta said, “The Indian market for LCD products, especially equipment and gadgets with screens, monitors, and displays have increased multi-fold in the last two years. The Indian market is matured to a point, where computers with LCD monitors are high in demand.”
