Moreover, one among the mutts which has been consistently working for the welfare of the farmers is the Siddaganga mutt in Tumkur. Because of the visionary Dr Shivakumar Swamiji the mutt has been conducting the agriculture and industrial exhibition since 1964, an act of social responsibility which is palpable.
Sri Siddalingeshwara swami mahotsav is going to be held with a lot of pomp at the mutt from February 28 to March 9. Also, agriculture and industrial exhibition, an annual affair, will be held as part of the celebrations from February 25 to March 10. Moreover, the exhibition will be organised in such a way that the farmers will have abundant opportunities to enhance their knowledge and information base . Also, the preparations for this year’s exhibition and fair is being carried out on a war footing basis.
There will be 150 stalls in this year’s exhibition. Agriculture, watershed development, tourism will be the most important attractions at the exhibition.
Also, efforts will be made to convey the scientific developments achieved in agriculture, sericulture, animal husbandry, khadi gramodyog, health, women and child welfare and other areas by the officials of the respective departments to the farmers.
In order to entertain children an amusement park is also being created. Also, in the evening various cultural programmes will be held.
Stalls will also be set up by the HMT, Syndicate Bank, Vijaya Bank, Kalpataru Grameen Bank and other organisations that come under the purview of the Central government, to inform the farmers about their various programmes and provisions that they can avail themselves of.
Crop variety
This year too there will be an exhibition of various crop variety. Also, name plates indicating the name of the crop, period of growth, variety, yield etc will be displayed which is going to benefit the farmers.
The exhibition committee has been working for the past two months to put forth this crop variety, informed secretary of the committee B Gangadaraiah.
