City to host agro-industrial fair

The mutts have always been focusing on the growth and propagation of 'dharma'. However, in the recent times the mutts have focussed their attention on the plight of the oppressed and farmer, which is a positive development.

Moreover, one among the mutts which has been consistently working for the welfare of the farmers is the Siddaganga mutt in Tumkur. Because of the visionary Dr Shivakumar Swamiji the mutt has been conducting the agriculture and industrial exhibition since 1964, an act of social responsibility which is palpable.

 Sri Siddalingeshwara swami mahotsav is going to be held with a lot of pomp at the mutt from February 28 to March 9. Also, agriculture and industrial exhibition, an annual affair,  will be held as part of the celebrations from February 25 to March 10. Moreover, the exhibition will be organised in such a way that the farmers will have abundant opportunities to enhance their knowledge and information base . Also, the preparations for this year’s exhibition and fair is being carried out on a war footing basis.

There will be 150 stalls in this year’s exhibition. Agriculture, watershed development, tourism will be the most important attractions at the exhibition.

Also, efforts will be made to convey the scientific developments achieved in agriculture, sericulture, animal husbandry, khadi gramodyog, health, women and child welfare  and other areas by the officials of the respective departments to the farmers.

In order to entertain children an amusement park is also being created. Also, in the evening various cultural programmes will be held.

 Stalls will also be set up by the HMT, Syndicate Bank, Vijaya Bank, Kalpataru Grameen Bank and other organisations that come under the purview of the Central government, to inform the farmers about their various programmes and provisions that they can avail themselves of.

 Crop variety
This year too there will be an exhibition of various crop variety. Also, name plates indicating the name of the crop, period of growth, variety, yield etc will be displayed which is going to benefit the farmers.
The exhibition committee has been working for the past two months to put forth this crop variety, informed secretary of the committee B Gangadaraiah.

 Momentos and awards will be given to the best exhibitors. Also, a cattle fair will be held nearby to the exhibition, said joint secretary of the committee K B Renu. Entrance fee to the exhibition is Rs 5. For more details contact: 94486 60531, 99643 09816, 94482 97903.

* Information will be telecasted about the various development in industries through the visual media to the rural mass.

*Openings to market various agricultural products at the stalls in the exhibition.

* Information about the various breakthroughs in agriculture will be provided to the farmers.

*Demonstration of the various agriculture and horticulture variety.

*Awareness will be created about water conservation, scientific methods of cultivation, use of modern technology and others.

*Information about water shed development, solar energy will also be provided at the exhibition.

*Finally, people will be encouraged to grow more plants.
