The protesters said that the state government had taken a decision in 2004 to build Ambedkar Bhavan in every hobli.

According to the orders from the government, even in Hebbur hobli too it was decided to build the Bhavan. Meanwhile, then Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge had laid foundation stone to the building.

But to the shock of many, till now the building works have not yet started and it has been facing hazards due to interference of some vested interests who do not want the dalits to develop, they stated while adding that, these vested interests are trying to acquire the land through conspiracy.

The protesters demanded to start the works of constructing the Bhavan within February 26 and have also said that the Governor should increase the construction amount from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs. Congress scheduled caste division district president R Ramakrishna, Baba Ambedkar Jagajeevanram Janajagrithi district Committee President K V Srinivas Kalkere and others led the protest.
