The bundh which was called by BJP and JD (S) in the backdrop of postponement of CMC elections was total in KGF on Saturday, which was called in protest against the postponement of elections.
Traders, schools and colleges, post office, banks, shops and others remained closed. People who had to travel had a tough time as transport came to a halt.
The activists of BJP and JD (S) raised slogans at Soorajmal circle against postponement of elections and further stated that it was an act of breach of democracy yielding to political reasons.
The Bundh was peaceful and security was beefed up led by DySP M V Sheshan.
Protection sought
On the other hand, former MLA Bhaktavatsalam has sought protection for the members who are in support of him as some people had threatened the lives of members who were in support for him.
He alleged that some Congress men Jaypal, NSUI Srinivas, Sampath Kumar who came at night threatened their life with dangerous weapons.
19 members who are in support of Bhaktavatsalam fearing of abducting them, have lodged a complaint against Muniyappa with DySP M V Sheshan.
The members have also said that they have been lured of Rs 10 lakh and not to support Bhakavatsalam. Deputy Superintendent of Police M V Sheshan who received the complaint has assured them of providing necessary protection.
