Police had made elaborate security arrangements in and around the City in the wake of the call for a strike given by truck drivers.
As a result, truck drivers who were willing to work were provided with adequate security. Vehicles coming from other states were also guarded. Police commissioner N Achutha Rao said that vehicles from other states would be provided enough security, till they cross the border.
Injured man dies
A 35-year-old man who was rushed to Nimhans last week after he sustained severe head injuries in a brawl, died on Saturday night. He has been identified as Chokkareddy (35), a resident of Kethamaranahalli.
According to the police, Chokkareddy came out of a bar on February 19 and picked up a quarrel with a few people.
Irked, they hit him on the head with a stone and ran away. A heavily bleeding Chokkareddy was rushed to Nimhans, but he failed to respond to treatment. A search is on for the accused, said the police.
Thieves nabbed
The JP Nagar police nabbed three thieves and seized batteries worth Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession.
The thieves, who have been identified as Satish Kumar (21) of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, Chandra Shekhar (40) of Ulsoor, and Joseph (36), residents of DJ Halli were nabbed for stealing batteries from cell-phone towers.
Racket busted
CCB sleuths busted a prostitution racket on Saturday. Three persons - Chandra (40), Asha (35) and Isa (25) were arrested and Rs 1000, four cell phones and a four wheeler recovered.
Another accused, Padma (35) is absconding. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the residence on third main road, CIL ‘B’ Block, Sanjaynagar.
