T Prabhakar, president of Karnataka City Taxi Owners Association said the city taxis will start plying from Monday. “Based on appeals from the transport commissioner and police commissioner, we have decided to ply our vehicles,” he said.
K T Rajashekhar from Employee Transportation Forum said his firm - SRS Transport - would resume services for the IT/BPO sector. He did not want to cause further inconvenience to employees.
The Bangalore and Airport Taxi Drivers Union, which had stopped operations fearing for the safety of its vehicles, was also expected to call off its stir. Union secretary Ashok said, “Police want us to ply. But who will protect our vehicles ?”
Meanwhile, G R Shanmugappa, the president of FKSLOAA left for New Delhi on Sunday to meet Union Minister for Surface Transport T R Baalu and apprise him of the situation in Karnataka.
