Govt To Boost Small Savings
Bangalore, Feb. 24.
Governor Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, in his address to the State Legislature here this morning, appealed to the members and the public to do their best to popularise the Small Savings Scheme which represented a practical way of reducing the gap in the internal finance for the Second Five-Year Plan.
With a view to raising fresh resources to implement the Plan, the Government was intensifying the scheme but the response to it had not been as good as was expected, he told the members.
Afghanistan Ready To Help
Bombay, Feb. 24.
Afghanistan is prepared to use her good offices to settle the Indo-Pakistan dispute over Kashmir she if is approached by any party.
This was indicated by the Afghan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sardar Mohamed Naim.

More ‘Oil’ For Wheel plant

New Delhi, Feb. 24.
No new railway lines or projects have been sanctioned for Karnataka in the 1983-84 railway budget presented to Parliament today, but all the on-going projects have been provided monies with the Wheel and Axle Plant topping the list. The plant, coming up at Yelahanka near Bangalore has been allocated Rs 21.4 crore and needs Rs 5.23 crore to be completed, according to the original estimated cost.
