These approvals were given by Board of Approval (BOA) at its meeting chaired by the Commerce Secretary G K Pillai. The BOA considered 14 proposals, including three  for conversion of in-principle approvals to formal approvals, but recommended ten formal approvals.

Among those cleared include Videocon Reality & Infrastructures Limited to set up a SEZ in IT and ITES (IT Enabled Services) sector in West Bengal.  

Sector specific SEZ for manufacture of transport engineering goods in Tamil Nadu by State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT).

The other prominent SEZ proposals include mineral and mineral based products SEZ in Madhya Pradesh by Madhya Pradesh Audyogik Kendra Vikas Limited.
