Student kills self, reason unknown
Bangalore:
A college student committed suicide by hanging at her Rajajinagar residence on Saturday night. Priyadarshini (19) was a final year BA student of Mount Carmel College.

On Saturday evening, she returned home from her dance classes at Basaveshwaranagar and locked herself in her room.

When she did not come out even on Sunday morning, her parents went to her room and found their daughter dead. The reason behind the suicide is not known. The girl had left a suicide note saying that she alone was responsible for her death.

Woman dies
Barely three months after their wedding, a woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws at Nelamangala on Sunday.

Police said Rekha Rani (23) was wedded to Venugopal, an Assistant Professor with the East West Engineering College at Nelamangala three months ago. On Sunday evening, Venugopal, his parents Puttanna and Yashodamma, brother Hari and elder sister Gayathri allegedly strangled her and then smothered her to death with a pillow.

After she was dead, one of them called her father Jagannath, saying his daughter was in critical condition. The father went rushing to Nelamangala to see his daughter dead. He then lodged a complaint with the Nelamangala police, alleging that all the five had killed his daughter.

Rekha Rani is said to have been killed for dowry. Investigations are on.
