The villagers of the Batrahalli village in the Kolar taluk locked up the Government Higher Primary School in their village demanding appointment of teachers to the vacant posts in the school and protested in front of it on Monday.
The villagers alleged that though many a times requisition was given to the Block Education Officer and Department of Public Instruction to appoint teachers to the school no action had been taken by the official in this direction. “The lack of teachers as severely hit the education system in the village as no teaching takes place in the school”, relented villagers.
Some the arents disgusted by the school functioning have admitted their children to private schools.
But the worst hit are the children's who are from poor families. Though students are keen to learn their are none satisfy their urge, expressed angry villagers.
Villagers alleged that even the principal of the school is in mood to respond to their queries and neither has made any attempt to solve the crisis. Block Education Officer K S Nagaraj Gowda who visited the village assured the villagers that two teachers from neighbouring village will be immediately appointed to this school. The villagers later withdrew the protest.
Rajanna, Chalapati, Srinivas, Narayanappa, Muniyappa, SDMC president, gram panchayat members and others took part in the protest.
