Tawin to meet Alfons in final

Tawin outclassed Yogesh 4-0 to storm into the final of the T A Selvaraj Memorial Open snooker tournament at the KSBA HAll on Monday.

In the title clash, Tawin takes on Kal Alfons, who scored a narrow 4-3 win over S Shekar in the other semifinals.
Results: Semifinals: Jasim Tawin bt Yogesh 4-0 (67-47, 58-2, 47-39, 60-35); Kal Alfons bt S Shekar 4-3 (43-51, 46-31, 58-30, 9-62, 30-58, 60-52, 65-29).

Quarterfinals: S Shekar bt Zulfikar Ahmed 4-1 (50-24, 60-19, 36-52, 76-37, 58-38); Kal Alfons bt M R Abdul Hameed 4-1 (72-18, 60-29, 57-47, 46-52, 82-20); Jasim Tawin bt Arjun R 4-1 (76-29, 28-67, 49-30, 67-47, 60-19); Yogesh bt Nithin Joshi 4-0 (73-31, 60-10, 63-39, 74-16).

Axis Designs notched twin wins in the Polycom corporate Twenty20 cricket tournament over the weekend. After defeating AOL by 26 runs in their first match, Axis outplayed Artha Options by 30 runs.

Newton sparkles for Joseph’s

Newton’s all-round show was the feature of St Joseph’s Arts and Science College’s crushing nine-wicket win over National College in the BHS FGC staff cricket tournament on Monday.

After picking up two for zero in National’s total of 74 all out, Newton then set up Joseph’s victory with a fine 32.
In another encounter, PESIT, riding in Guruprasad’s fine show, scored an eight-wicket win over SSMRV.

National College: 74 all out in 18.5 overs (Patrick 2-14, Thimma Reddy 2-14, Newton 2-0) lt to SJA&SC: 77/1 in 5.3 overs (Newton 32).
SSMRV: 114 all out in 19.2 overs (Vijay K 35, Giridhar 30; Guruprasad 3-19, Venktesh 3-25) lt to PESIT: 120/2 in 9.2 overs (Chandrasekar 49, Guruprasad 31).

Inter-collegiate basketball
