A division Bench comprising Justice S R Bannurmath and Justice Venugopala Gowda sought a report from the State government on expenses it incurred for deploying additional police force during protests. The Bench asked the AG to furnish details on the role of intelligence wing of the police department during protests. The court asked the government to file the report before March 10.
SP summoned
The High Court has summoned the SP, Bangalore Rural to the court for not registering a complaint even 14 months after it was filed. Dilip Kumar Khatai, who owns 28 acres and 7 guntas of land in Geddalahalli and Agasarahalli in Nelamangala taluk, had lodged a complaint Nelamangala police alleging that Srinivas, Suresh Kothari, Subhash Kothari, Lalith Mandoth alias Jain and Pradeep Tak were involved in illegal activities to grab his property on December 23, 2006.
In his petition, he has alleged the police did not register the case.
Justice K L Manjunath ordered the Bangalore Rural SP to be present by 2.30 pm on Tuesday itself, but he did not attend the proceedings.
PIL on Metro RailThus, the judge has summoned him to be present on Thursday.
A writ petition challenging Metro Rail works on CMH Road, filed by shoppers and residents of CMH Road, has been withdrawn and a fresh PIL questioning the entire project filed in its place. A division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and justice B V Nagarathna is expected to hear the PIL on Wednesday.

This is how Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph on Tuesday reacted while hearing a PIL on BMIC project. The division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and justice B V Nagarathna had taken up hearing on one of the PILs filed by N Munegowda alleging the project was not being executed as per original framework of agreement.
He said only petitioners are appearing before the court. But nobody can find out the real Arjuna who is shooting these pashupatastras.
The Bench adjourned the hearing for March 27.
‘Clear case soon’
The HC has directed the Bangalore First ACMM court to clear the case filed against Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwesha Teertha and others within three months.
