Contamination cases go up
Another 80 new patients, all of them garment factory employees, were diagnosed with gastroenteritis (GE) on Tuesday. With this, 204 employees of the Embee Apparels garment factory have taken ill after drinking contaminated water. The jurisdicational police have taken up a case. The factory manager was arrested and released on bail, and police are awaiting laboratory reports. “All the patients are stable right now,” said ESIMS Director Dr Rahimunnisa.
BWSSB notice to Bowring Institute
The BWSSB on Tuesday issued a notice to Bowring Institute on St Marks road, for causing overflow of sewage. Waste water from the swimming pool of the Institute, flooded the surrounding areas, said Satish, Assistant Executive Engineer, High Grounds Subdivision.
BWSSB employees who reached the spot found water gushing out opposite the Coffee Day junction, causing traffic jams.
The overflow was traced to the swimming pool of the institute. “Action will be taken under the rules and regulations of the BWSSB Act,” Satish said.
Liquor worth lakhs seized
The Excise Department sleuths recovered illicit liquor worth Rs 15 lakh in a raid at Anekal. The team raided a place at Kallahalli in Anekal taluk and recovered 96,000 litres illicit liquor buried in a field. Twenty people have been arrested in this regard.
Bank branch at Hoskote
The Federal Bank is opening its 570th branch at Hoskote on Thursday, February 27 by the director, Department of Tourism. The branch will be fully computerised with core banking solution.
