Gang war averted
DH News Service, Bangalore:
A major gang war was averted in the City with the arrest of notorious criminal Marenahalli Jagga and six of his henchmen, by sleuths of the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

Besides Jagga, the other criminals nabbed by the CCB were Nagesh alias Betta (28) of Yelahanka, KRS Santosh Kumar (23) of Mysore, Lakshmeesha (24) of Nelamangala, Ganesh (28), Murugesh (28) and Gajendra (25), all residents of Vijayanagara.

“Acting on credible information, the CCB team caught them near the Binny Layout-Nagarbhavi area in Vijayanagar when they were planning to eliminate their rivals Mulama alias Lokesh, and Vishwa,” said Police Commissioner of Bangalore N Achutha Rao.

Police seized 40 swords, a revolver and 9 rounds of ammunition, two cars, a motorcycle and five mobile phones from their possession.

According to the police, Marenahalli Jagga was involved in five major cases, including murder and attempt to murder. Jagga took to crime around eleven years ago and had first joined the rowdy Thimmaiah gang.

After Thimmaiah was murdered, he joined Macha alias Manjunatha’s gang. Sometime later, when Macha was also murdered, Jagga joined Krishna alias Korangu’s gang and eliminated his rival Thimmenahalli Govinda, police said.

Police said Jagga planned to eliminate Mulama alias Lokesh and Vishwa to show his loyalty to Korangu.  But before he could execute his designs, he was apprehended. During interrogation Jagga told police that he got the pistol from one Johny alias Janardan before he went to jail in 2004.

Robber held
The organised crime wing of CCB nabbed notorious inter-state robber Ajit Kumar Singh (27).

Police seized 2 pistols, five rounds of ammunition, 10 lethal weapons, 10 keys of cars, 5 RC books, 4 mobile phones, 12 SIM cards, 23 debit and credit cards and cheque books of various banks.

After he was arrested  last year with 35 stolen cars, he was convicted and jailed. Singh, a native of Mumbai, took to crime again afterhe was released from jail.
