The single judge had on January 31, 2008, directed city police authorities to consider the applications filed by Shashwathi Enterprises and four other restaurant owners of city seeking license to run live bands, while disposing of their petition. The judge had directed the city Police Commissioner, the Licensing Authority under Licensing of Places of Public Entertainment Rules, 2005, to consider and dispose of the applications within 15 days. The appeal’s hearing was adjourned to Thursday.
Bescom gets stay
The Court stayed the operation of Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission order directing Bescom to pay damages to some of its consumers.
The KSCDRC had on December 4, 2007 ordered Bescom to pay the repairing costs and damages for the affected household electrical and electronic goods of some residents of Muslim Block, Kanakapura town, Bangalore Rural district.
While admitting Bescom’s writ petition, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B V Nagarathna stayed the impugned orders.
PIL on Metro
The PIL filed by CMH Shops and Establishments’ Association against Metro Rail alignment through CMH Road came up for preliminary hearing before the Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph on Wednesday. The Bench adjourned the hearing to Thursday while directing the petitioners’ counsel to furnish copies of petition papers to the counsels for State Government and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
